Berrien Boys got a much needed win 63-58 against Fitzgerald Tuesday night in Nashville. The Rebels used steady defense, execution on offense, and clutch free throws to put the game away. Khalid Lamar scored 9 points in the 4th quarter including 4 free throws in a row to seal the victory. Lamar ended up with 12 points for the game. Jamiah Miller scored 14 and Treshaad Williams had 10 points. The Rebels badly needed a victory after losing 7 in a row including five of those games by 5 points or less. "Losing five games that are so close really hurts. We needed to get one under our belt to help build our confidence," said Coach Patrick McClure after the game. Despite the win, the boys continue to struggle at the free throw line hitting 11 of 21 free throws, which actually raised the season free throw percentage to 47%. "We will continue to practice more on our Free Throws and try to get better," says Coach McClure. "This win was big for our boys confindence and will make for a much better Christmas break. They really listened tonight and executed well. This was definitely a step forward, and that is our goal each time we touch the court, whether it be practice or a game."
This was the last game for Berrien before Christmas break. The boys will practice Wednesday and have 8 days off to relax and spend time with their family. They will return to practice at 3:00 pm on Dec. 29th.
